Probate & Estate Administration

Probate can feel relentless, particularly during a bereavement. We keep the process structured and calm, with clear steps, sensible timescales and practical communication.

We can deal with the process end-to-end, or support you with specific stages if you prefer to do both parts of the administration yourself.

What We Can Help With

This typically includes taking instructions, verifying information, valuing assets and liabilities, preparing and submitting the probate application, dealing with any queries, collecting in assets (where instructed), settling liabilities, preparing estate accounts, and distributing to beneficiaries.

Probate Fees and Service Information

Probate costs depend on the size and complexity of the estate and what you want us to do. We will confirm the likely fee range with you in writing once we understand the estate.

Typical fees (straightforward, uncontested estates) are as follows: grant-only (application for the grant) from £950 + VAT, and full estate administration typically £3,000 – £6,500 + VAT. Costs are likely to be higher where there is inheritance tax reporting, multiple properties, overseas assets, business interests, trusts, missing information, urgent timescales, or any dispute.

Disbursements

Disbursements are separate from our fees. Common examples include the probate application fee of £300 for estates over £5,000 and extra sealed copies at £16 each. Other disbursements may include valuation fees (if required) and statutory notices (if appropriate).

Timescales

Timescales vary depending on asset holders and the complexity of the estate. We will give a realistic estimate once we have the information.

Calm, organised probate support.

We help executors and families understand the process, gather the right information and move matters forward properly.
